Most current AutoCAD LT 2000 users are very used to the software package and cannot do without it. With the latest hardware and required move to new Windows versions, trying to install your AutoCAD LT 2000 gives an error like this one…
This article describes the compatibility between AutoCAD drawing file formats and AutoCAD versions. Drawing (.dwg) files are the native data files that are created when using AutoCAD-based products. Each AutoCAD-based product uses by default a specific file format when saving to a file, which is important to know when sharing files. DWG files can be opened using any AutoCAD or AutoCAD product. Jul 2, 2003 - I have just recently started my own Architecture office and need to purchase a Plotter. Currently I am using Microsoft ME with Autocad 2000LT.

We had to have Autocad for some legacy work.if we didn't I would NEVER purchase this. It's waaaaaaaay too expensive compared to the competition. This is LT and has none of the features that make Inventor ($3500) worth purchasing. I had to purchase a BRAND new copy because our 2007 copy was out of upgrade window.FML. I have to use Autocad but if I didn't I'd use something like Cubify Invent ($50) or even some of the freeware (123Design, Google Sketchup, Tinkercad.etc).
Since they have taken all the GM coding ability out (Inventor) this is not a good deal. Seriously this is what you get for 1000$. What a piece of garbage. I have been using CAD for 12 years.
Every year the program gets worse and worse. The software is extremely slow. Constant freezes - sometimes returns after a 5 minute pause (opps forgot what i was doing) and others just shuts down (opps looks like you are starting over from last saved spot) they load it with all this stuff that no one can figure out how to use. Then change the simple commonly used items to be so cumbersome. Like others here I had many crashes.losing work that was unrecoverable, even through the back up. It is very hard to believe that software this expensive has offers no help to customers.
I am sure this is because they know full well their software is faulty and there is NO answer to your problem. The only valid response would be sorry you are screwed. Luckily, I only tried the product and did not buy it after the one month trial. Which I recommend everyone do this. You go to their website and download 30 day trial. If you are upgrading the learning curve is steeper than expected. Everything is moved and changed.
Cad knows nothing of muscle memory and has absolutely no respect for you time. But they do likle your money so keep forking it over to them. Was using 2006 and had no issues.
Upgraded to 21014LT and after one month the program wouldn't start. Getting 'I don't have sufficient admin rights' error message?!? Autocad help is a joke and useless.
Google the problem and it seems to be popping up all over the place with no answers on how to fix the problem. Spent hours uninstalling and reinstalling didn't fix it.
Seems the only way some people fixed it is by wiping out the entire Windows 7 OS and reloading. Something I'm not willing to do. Trash every other program that works fine just to get Autocad working (maybe). Went back to using 2006 on my xp pro machine. So now I have a $900 program that is totally useless. Thanks Autocad for nothing except wasting my money. I bought this last year for my archiving/mechanical drawing control business.
I have to say that I'm not impressed with some of the 'perks' like the Drawing & Annotations workspace layout which can be easily changed to the Classic workspace layout, or the Dynamic Input Tool which can be easily turned off. The main disappointment is the lack of a manual to come with the program. I would recommend anyone actually interested in getting everything one can out of this program to buy Mastering AutoCAD 2014 and AutoCAD LT 2014: Autodesk Official Press by Mr. George Omura.
This book is really indispensable to users like myself who are jumping into a new AutoCAD LT after being established using AutoCAD 2000. All the attempted work-arounds necessary to run AutoCAD 2000 on a 64-bit Windows 7 operating system with the continuous compatibility issues made spending the $800 on AutoCAD LT 2014 a nicer option. All that said, I like the program, and think that if I ever get heavily into 3D, I'm going to be kicking myself for not buying the full version of AutoCAD. I have installed and used 2000LT and 2004LT for my business for years. Using the CD of 2014LT I have spent 5 hours so far trying to get it to install and launch. No go so far.
Installed but won't launch. Contemplating uninstalling and starting over again, but it took multiple reboots to get the program to install after the first try produced a font error message (so I opted to abort the initial install to see what that was about). The pay per incident help route is a dead end; I get a 'page not found' message. The Autodesk discussion groups are way over my head as they all seem to be IT folks, not architects. Not sure where I go from here!
