St Dupont Serial Number Check

S.T. Dupont

Simon Tissot - Dupont’s company founded in 1872 was making luxury leather goods. First petrol lighters were made in early 30s.

In war times, when quality material was hard to achieve, Dupont lighters were made of aluminium, the company quickly returned to high quality materials after the war, great series of petrol lighters were made from that time untill mid 50s and there were Dupont petrol lighters produced even later.

The first gas lighter made by ST Dupont was introduced in 1953 under D57 code mark, when the roller was turned the nozzle jumped up and the gas automatically begun to flow, closed lid pushed the nozzle back to the position. Petrol model of the same size and look had been produced in the same time.

The next gas Dupont marked BS (Briquet Simple) following in 1959 was a bit wider than D57 . The production of Dupont BS ended in early 70s but authorized Dupont service will accept it for repair even today. The size of this dependable model was the same as of today’s Line 1 Dupont lighters.

In 1965 Dupont’s most successful lighter was introduced, it was marked BR (Briquet Reglable). The lighter had adjustable flame and automatic stop of the gas flow during the flint change. Today’s Line 1 lighters don’t have this function anymore.

The script S T Dupont looks way off to my eye. If you contact ST Dupont and give them the serial number on the bottom, they can tell you without question if it is real or not. And yes, if theres a real ST Dupont anything, theres fakes out there as well including the Ligne 1. Dupont fountain pens fit any brand of standard international-sized ink cartridges. Colorado Pen and Pelikan offer a wide range of ink colors in this size cartridge. You may opt to use the ink converter that came with your pen and refill with bottled ink. Then you can choose from any brand of bottled ink, including Colorado Pen, Pelikan, Edelst.

Beside Line 1 also Line 2, Line D and Gatsby series are beeing produced. Dupont table lighters and rare collectable limited series like “Art Nouveau” or “ Maharadjah” are available too.

There's some easy ways to detect cheapish fakes. There's some

more elaborate ones on the market, but not many.

1. Serial number. Stamped on bottom by hand, so IRREGULAR. Latih tubi menulis jawi. 6-8

characters (numbers and capitals) at most.

2. 'lack de chine' present on lighters that don't have any

3. Colour-code of required refill inside filling cap

4. initials of employee who made it behind the flint roller when

you remove it.

5. Most popular models (diamond head, Lackue de chine) most likely

to be fake.

Most important: price. Don't expect a real one new for under 250 US

$.
